DESCRIPTION:
For sale is this very nice vintage piece of
mid-20th century
California
art pottery
produced in the
late 1960's
by the ceramic art firm
'California Pottery/Pacific Stoneware.'
It features a little blond-haired girl with her eyes closed and smiling, set atop an inverted terracotta ceramic light blue glazed flower pot. This piece is a sympathetic, cheery piece of figurative

ceramic art and may not be for the 'doom and gloom,' decidedly pessimistic, cynical crowd, where the glass is always 'half-empty,' the sky is falling and these are apocalyptic 'end times.' That potential horror set aside, this yes, super cutie-pie, little wind chime, is sweet, airy, optimistic and beautiful, perhaps a timely response to the plethora of trials and tribulations we're all now facing as a nation and as a global community. The girl's flat, slab-constructed face is detailed with sgraffito mark-making. Her curled, pixie-cut blond hair is a bright, vivid yellow. Sepia brown defines her closed eyes and eyebrows. It's missing its original baked ceramic wind chime piece. A long, looped wire connects the head to the inverted flower pot body. Very cool.
